HUS Acamedic – features

HUS Acamedic virtual desktops explained

In HUS Acamedic, each user has access to five different virtual desktops (VD). The virtual desktop is mirrored to the user in HUS Acamedic via a Citrix connection.

HUS Acamedic VD´s are Windows 11 Desktop Multi-User- shared, Windows 11 Desktop Single-User, Windows 11 Single- User GPU, Linux (Ubuntu) Desktop Single-User sekä Linux (Ubuntu) Desktop Multi-User – jaettu virtuaalikone.

Windows and Linux desktop Multi-User are shared virtual machines. This means that one virtual machine can have 10 users at the same time. Windows Desktop Single-User and Linux Desktop Single-User are VDs where each user has access to the power of the entire machine. Single-User VD is recommended for computing tasks that require higher compute power. Windows 11 Single-User GPU VD has software exclusively for healthcare imaging software.

If a research group needs GPU computing power, it can be used most agilely at HUS Acamedic through Azure ML. Paying for GPU power is the responsibility of the research team and is billed according to usage.
